By: Dr. Beth Templin It's hard to believe that we opened our doors one year ago! And what a fantastic journey it's been! I wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that's happened over the past year. First off, I want to give a huge thanks to my amazing HouseFit Team. They have each helped me take my vision of building a space dedicated to serving older adults and helping them stay physically fit and active and made it a reality.
Each of them have contributed to the growth and development of our programs and have enhanced our services further. For that I will always be grateful. The second Thank You, of course, goes to all of our clients! Thank you for placing your trust in us. We love getting to know each of you and are honored to be part of your journey. We've had a pretty amazing year and we've had a steady increase in demand for our services, which has allowed us to grow our team and add additional programs to serve you better. Here's a look at what you can currently find at HouseFit! Physical Therapy - We offer one-on-one therapy sessions at the South County gym and throughout the St. Louis area through our Mobile Team. Group Classes- We currently offer 10 classes each week specifically designed for older adults. All classes are led by our Physical Therapy Team! Tai Chi for Arthritis & Balance Program - We are loving this newest addition to HouseFit! In this 8-week series participants learn basic Tai Chi forms specifically designed to decrease arthritis symptoms & improve balance! ActiveStep - This treatment uses cutting edge technology, which allows people to improve how quickly they react to a fall and reduce their fall risk by 50% after one session! We are the only clinic in the MidWest to offer this advanced balance training! BalanceWear - This innovative treatment device is indicated for patients with difficulty moving around due to loss of postural control and balance. This specialized vest helps to stabilize you as you move around. As we look toward the future, we plan to expand our services by adding additional staff and programs before the end of the year, including: Cognitive Stimulation Therapy - This program, which was developed at St. Louis University, is an evidence-based treatment approach for people with mild to moderate dementia. Classes to be held at HouseFit later this year. So here's to another year of providing valuable resources to the aging St. Louis community! Comments are closed.
