Statistics on falls and fall-related injuries for adults over 65 are grim. Missouri specifically has one of the highest death rates associated with falls in the United States. In this workshop, we aim to flip that statistic on its head and approach the concept of falling from a completely new perspective. Instead of focusing only on fall prevention, we are now going to focus on fall preparedness.
The Safe Landing Workshop Series was designed to retrain your body how to fall safely, without getting injured. In this workshop, you will work closely with a physical therapist in a group setting. You will learn strategies and exercises to help your body prepare for a fall. You will practice controlled falling in multiple directions - forward, backward and sideways. Participants will start practicing in slow motion from a low level close to the ground and gradually work their way up to faster speeds and full height fall by the end of the series. Each participant will be provided with a tumbling mat for increased comfort.
This Workshop Is Perfect For People Who:
This workshop series is a six week program. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes and will require your physical participation. Participant to instructor ratio is 4:1.

*Due to the physical requirements of participating in this workshop, we will limit participation to only those who can get on and off the floor without assistance from another person. If you don't meet those requirements, check out our Floor Fitness Workshop Series or Physical Therapy first.

- Week 3 & 4: Practice skills from a kneeling or squatting position.
